MapleStory Classic World Citizenship System

By MSCWHub Team·

The MapleStory Classic World Citizenship System is the game's town contribution and reward mechanism, unlocking when your character reaches level 12. Players can choose a town as their "hometown" and accumulate contribution points by completing daily greetings and weekly donation tasks to level up citizenship. As your citizenship level increases, you'll earn shop discounts in that town, special item purchase permissions, and other exclusive rewards. Per Nexon CBT1 announcement, the Citizenship System was available for testing in CBT1. Currently supports Henesys and Kerning City. The Citizenship System is an important part of MapleStory Classic World's economy — planning your citizenship leveling route can significantly save in-game expenses.

The MapleStory Classic World Citizenship System is a town contribution-based progression system designed to encourage long-term player engagement with specific town communities. Unlike traditional leveling systems, citizenship level is independent of character level, focusing on your contribution and loyalty to a particular town.

The system automatically unlocks when your character reaches level 12. You can choose a town (currently supports Henesys and Kerning City) as your citizenship affiliation. Completing 'Daily Greeting' tasks by talking to town NPCs every day and making 'Town Donations' weekly both earn contribution points. After accumulating enough contribution points, your citizenship level increases, unlocking more rewards.

The main rewards from citizenship level increases include shop discounts (reduced purchase prices), special item purchase permissions, and exclusive titles. Combined with MSCWHub's NPC Database and Shop Database, you can plan the optimal citizenship leveling route to maximize in-game savings.

MapleStory Classic World Citizenship System FAQ

System Mechanics & Rewards Explained

The MapleStory Classic World Citizenship System operates on a contribution point accumulation mechanism. Players earn contribution points by completing daily and weekly tasks, and citizenship level increases after accumulating a certain amount. Each level has corresponding contribution point requirements and player level requirements.

  • Daily Greeting: simply talk to the designated town NPC every day to earn contribution points. This is the most basic contribution source — simple and stable. The contribution points earned from daily greetings also increase based on your citizenship level.
  • Weekly Donation: donate specified materials to the town weekly to earn substantial contribution points. The type and quantity of donated materials vary based on citizenship level. This is the primary way to quickly level up citizenship.
  • Shop Discounts: as your citizenship level increases, you receive discounts when purchasing items in that town's shops. Higher-level citizens enjoy larger discounts, saving significant in-game currency over time.
  • Special Permissions: high-level citizens can purchase special items unavailable to regular players. These items may include rare consumables, decorative props, or other useful items, depending on the town and level.
"In MMORPGs, economic system design directly affects long-term player engagement. Well-designed reward mechanisms incentivize continued time investment while maintaining in-game economic balance." — Castronova, E. (2005). Synthetic Worlds: The Business and Culture of Online Games. University of Chicago Press.

Town Selection & Strategy

Currently the Citizenship System supports two towns: Henesys and Kerning City. Choosing the right town is crucial for maximizing citizenship system benefits. You need to decide based on your playstyle and frequently used areas.

  • Henesys: Bowman class advancement location and one of the most frequently visited towns by new players. If you primarily operate in the Victoria Island area or frequently purchase bowman-related equipment and consumables, choosing Henesys as your citizenship affiliation is more suitable.
  • Kerning City: Thief class advancement location, situated in the underground area of Victoria Island. If you frequently level in Kerning City and surrounding maps (like Subway, Construction Site) or need to frequently purchase thief-related items, choosing Kerning City is more convenient.
  • Selection advice: consider your current and future primary activity areas. If you plan to level near a particular town long-term, choosing that town provides continuous shop discount benefits. Alternatively, decide based on special items you want to purchase — check the high-level citizen exclusive items in both towns and choose the one more useful to you.
"Player choices in virtual worlds often reflect their game goals and preferences. Understanding the motivations behind these choices helps design better game systems and reward mechanisms." — Yee, N. (2006). The Psychology of Massively Multi-User Online Role-Playing Games.

Leveling Tips & Efficiency Optimization

To efficiently level up citizenship and maximize benefits, here are some practical tips:

  • Maintain daily greetings: daily greetings are the most stable contribution source. Although each greeting earns modest points, long-term consistency yields significant cumulative results. Set daily reminders to ensure you never miss a greeting task.
  • Prepare donation materials in advance: materials needed for weekly donations can be collected and prepared ahead of time. Understand the donation item types required for each level, collect them during daily gameplay, and avoid discovering insufficient materials on donation day.
  • Use the calculator to plan your route: use the citizenship level calculator above this page, input your current level and target level to see how many days are needed to reach your goal. This helps you set reasonable expectations and time plans.
  • Combine with shop database to optimize expenses: while leveling up citizenship, check MSCWHub's shop database to understand prices of items you frequently purchase in that town. Calculate actual savings after discounts to evaluate the return on investment of citizenship leveling.
"In long-running games, daily tasks and periodic rewards are key mechanisms for maintaining player activity. Well-designed daily systems should make players feel continuous progress rather than repetitive burden." — Hamari, J., & Koivisto, J. (2015). Why do people use gamification services?
